Chamber Music
Our Chamber Music Network helps like minded musicians find and form small ensembles for any instrument. We organise multiple chamber showcase and soloist concerts each year. To get involved, you can contact bumschambermusic@outlook.com.

Conducting
All BUMS ensembles are led by student conductors. Conducting positions are auditioned near the end of the year and anyone is welcome to audition. You can reach out to ensemble managers here for more information about conducting roles.
Composition
BUMS love to support student composers. Our Composition Network puts on concerts specifically for composers to get their chamber works played. There are also opportunities for composers to write for one of our ensembles! To find out more, you can contact bumscomposition@outlook.com.

Other Music Societies
Symphonia
Symphonia consists of two student-run orchestras, symphony and philharmonic. Symphonia symphony is part-auditioned and philarmonic is unauditioned. You will find many musicians in both BUMS and Symphonia!
Bristol University Opera Society
The Bristol University Opera Society (BoPS) gives students the opportunity to perform in full opera productions. They put on two operas a year and you will often see members of BUMS on the stage and in the orchestra.
Big Band Society
Big Band is a jazz society with two groups. Hornstars is their fully auditioned small band that takes on more challenging repertoire. Bristol University Jazz Orchestra (BUJO) is their larger band which is unauditioned except for their rhythm section.
Music Theatre Bristol
Music Theatre Bristol (MTB) is the musical theatre society. They put on three main shows a year as well as many other performances. They give musicians the opportunity to play in the pit band for their shows.
Bristol University Madrigal Ensemble
Bristol University Madrigal Ensemble (MADS) is a 16-strong choir of auditioned singers who perform unaccompanied part-song from across the ages, from Renaissance madrigals and polyphonic Masses to contemporary art song and jazz arrangements.
Jazz Funk Soul Society
Jazz Funk Soul (JFS) run weekly jam nights at Mr Wolfs that are open to musicians of all abilities. They also put on fortnightly band nights which hosts musical talent from around the country.
